As I write this, Storm Ciara is making a tremendous amount of noise outside my bedroom in my riverside hometown of Liverpool. I consider going to the gym, but after taking one look at the blistering hail pelting my window, I turn the heating on and start making a brew. Despite all of this, when I first heard The Dollar Bill Murrays new single Ultraviolet, I couldn’t help but be transported to a beer garden in summertime, donning nothing but a t-shirt and some flowery shorts.
The Aussie alt-rockers have returned from an eighteen-month hiatus with a love letter to summer Down Under, and it’s definitely been worth the wait. Aside from having the best band name I’ve come across all year, they can also pump out a bloody decent tune.
Ultraviolet makes you feel like you’re at a beach on the warmest day of the year; sometimes the heat seems like it might be too much, but then an exhilarating breeze passes through your body and leaves you floating in ecstasy. Its soulful, psychedelic, and dance-worthy. Jangly guitars slide past floaty drum beats, perfectly matching the lyrical content which so accurately depicts the emotional ebb and flow of a hot summer’s day.
Having received accolades from Triple J and Happy Mag, and being featured on the video game NASCAR Heat 3, it’s clear to see why The Dollar Bill Murrays are making waves in the music industry.
Perfect for your Spotify playlist, these guys are back, and they mean business. Check out their socials and listen to Ultraviolet now!
