Tastes The Same is the first single released from The Column’s upcoming EP, Sparrow’s Tongue.
If you’re a fan of bands like The National, you’ll love this. Low range moody vocals and upbeat instrumentation is a distinctive and winning combination, and The Column definitely hold their own in this arena. The project has been described as “music for sad people to be happy to” which absolutely hits the nail on the head. Lyrically, Tastes the Same explores the modern-day human experience of consumerism. For anyone out there having that “same shit, different day” feeling today, this is a song that’ll have you both nodding your fed-up head in solidarity and smiling about the fact. The joyful melody, powerful drum beats, echoey guitars and sweet harmonies make the whole existential crisis element a surprisingly enjoyable pill to swallow.
The Column have also released an official video which really brings the whole concept to life; however, proceed with caution. There is a lot of close up mouth action. Take a look here:
Tastes the Same is out now for you to enjoy. The full EP will be released on the 20th of March. We’re excited. Pre-order it here.
