Are you looking for a song that’s so catchy you won’t forget it? Here’s where you’ll find it! Nosebleeds, from the Birmingham-based post-punk act Tall Stories, is a modern classic, filled to the brim with catchy hooks and instrumentation that is to die for.
This is a tune where every instrument is on point, beginning with a fantastic riff that variates as it continues, kicking everything off into full gear. We are treated to a powerful bassline that drives Nosebleeds sternly forward, with Francesca Hall accompanying it with the infectiously groovy drums. Throw in the fantastic vocal work of Louis Griffin, and you have perfection once again. Griffin’s voice is both stunningly unique, but also somewhat familiar, with clear inspiration from the drive and sarcastic delivery of Joe Talbot and the in-your-face/diatribe style of Geordie Greep.
The track also shines lyrically, with some Cold War-era references and metaphorical commentary on the genre of post-punk as a whole. It’s also worth noting that the mix is superb. Do you have a Spotify playlist for catchy songs? Wack Nosebleeds on it immediately. Seriously, it has been stuck in my head all day.
Nosebleeds is out now. I strongly recommend you give it a listen.
