After building their reputation with the critically acclaimed debut album Take The Weight Off Your Shoulders, and an extensive tour supporting Pinegrove last year, indie-pop quartet Snow Coats are back with a new single titled Pool Girl.
Taken from their forthcoming EP, also called Pool Girl and due out on September 11th via Alcopop Records!, this pop-infused song has all the elements of an irresistible radio hit. Beginning with a hooky mandolin that gives a light and breezy texture, it compliments vocalist and guitarist Anouk Va Der Kamp’s self-reflective words. Although the dynamic of the track remains at a constant upbeat tempo throughout, there is a serious undertone to the lyrics with Kamp reflecting on the anxieties and panic she suffers over trivial issues.
“It’s a song about how I reflect on myself. Some silly things and some more serious. Like my anxieties and how I can panic over the smallest things. I hope that there are people who can relate to my lyrics”.
Pool Girl has an indie-pop sound with a cranked-up bassline and a hooky chorus that’s impossible to not sing along to. Snow Coats have effortlessly delivered a track that’s perfect for any summer playlist. Check it out now!
