Do you ever struggle to find good new music for prolonged periods and then suddenly come across a goldmine? That’s what happened to me this week. The world was once grey, and now it’s full of vibrant colours. How did this happen? I found Permanent Creeps, a record label/management company who have some of the most exciting up and coming bands around on their roster. One such act is On Video, who impressed the UK media with their single Bete Noir back in May. The good news is that they didn’t stop there. Follow up Stuntman is just as good.
Packed full of catchy guitar hooks and memorable vocal melodies, Stuntman sounds like it was made by a slightly more punk version of Franz Ferdinand. It could easily fit BBC Radio 1, but will no doubt find its way on coveted alternative playlists too. One of my favourite things about the track is that you can tell On Video are having fun. Their joy actually oozes from the speakers, and that’s exactly what we need right now.
Alongside all of this, Stuntman has a hugely entertaining music video that made me laugh several times. I felt pretty bad on some of the guitars featured though and would like reassurance that no instruments were harmed in the making of the film. Anyway, what are you still doing here? Go and listen!
