Glasgow trio Deer Leader are back with a new single titled Four Deuces. Initially focused on creating instrumental music, the band have been working with renowned producer Andy Miller (Mogwai, Arab Strap, Life Without Buildings) to modify their sound, adding vocals to craft a single full of alt-rock overtones.
With Four Deuces, the group have meshed together atmospheric soundscapes with a moody blend of rock and hints of explosive energy. The intervals of piano that interweave throughout build on the anticipation and form eerie tones that add to the feel of restricted tension. Developing the rest of the music around this structure, Deer Leader use a combination of loud and soft dynamics with the bass, guitar and percussion driving the song forward with progressively intensifying sounds, while the melancholic vocals add an air of suspense and uncertainty.
Four Deuces is the perfect release for Deer Leader’s break away from instrumental music, with the diverse elements and vocals showcasing a band that is already on the peak of their musical journey.
