I played Suave Martyrs on my radio show a few weeks back and was hugely impressed by the Manchester-based band. Their lockdown anthem, Straight A’s, struck me as one of the most unique songs I’d discovered in recent times. The best thing about writing for Independent Music News is getting to hear how certain artists’ music changes over time, and it seems Suave Martyrs can tackle different genres with ease. This time they’ve delved into psychedelia, and the results are brilliant.
From the moment Footsteps began with its instantly catchy guitar riff, I knew what I was about to hear was a belter, and it didn’t disappoint. Drenched in reverb, the song is catchy and well-produced. This one is sure to be amazing live, and I can’t wait to check it out once the world allows us to return to gigs again. I have no doubt the Martyrs will deliver a fantastic performance, as they’ve already headlined Jimmy’s and gained a reputation as a formidable band.
Footsteps is just more evidence that this is an act to be reckoned with, and I can’t wait to see what they put out next. For now, I’m going keep enjoying this hypnotic and powerful piece of music, and I recommend you do the same.
