Review: SKULDPADDA – Dumbr Weakr Slowr

Posted byDaniel FaganApril 10, 2020New Music, ReviewsSKULDPADDA

With crunching guitar tones, a high-octane beat, and soaring psychedelic melodies, the new offering from SKULDPADDA, Dumbr Weakr Slowr, is a krautrock classic that will get deep inside your head and take up permanent residence.

Has your friend ever introduced you to someone you just don’t like? Everyone else seems to love them, but there’s something about them that doesn’t sit right with you. You spend hours trying to put your finger on it, to no avail. SKULDPADDA knows all about that, with the lyrical content of Dumbr Weakr Slowr accurately summing up this sentiment. Musically, it combines several impressive-sounding industrial textures, painting a picture in the listener’s head with its expert production. At times, it feels like TV On The Radio formed a supergroup with The Strokes to create thought-provoking indie for us to boogie to.

SKULDPADDA is clearly moving from strength to strength. Their last single, Red Moon, made waves in the music community, and if Dumbr Weakr Slowr is anything to go by they aren’t going to slow down any time soon. We can’t wait to see what they put out next.

We love Dumbr Weakr Slowr. You will, too. Check it out!
