Review: LIME – Surf N Turf

Posted byDaniel ThomasFebruary 26, 2020New Music, ReviewsLIME

I’m fond of limes. The most underrated fruit, they make a mean key lime pie, taste delicious in a corona or mojito and are a beautiful addition to a tarka dhal. I’d take a bath in lime juice, but I’d probably burn my skin off. Thankfully, I won’t have to experience that horrific ordeal in the future because Brighton-based LIME have just released their debut single, Surf N Turf, and it literally courses through your blood and bones. Expect hand spasms and head wobbles; this song will take you on a journey. A nice one, though. Those where you play eye spy and eat hard candy sweets. Delicious.

I spy with my little eye something beginning with L. Bastard, yes, it’s the band LIME, and they’re here to play a sweet tune. Surf N Turf is chirpy, cute, and oh so satisfying. If this song were a person, it would probably be your favourite teacher at school; always handing you a juicy apple, giving useful advice and reassuring you when life gets hard. We all need a Surf N Turf to get us through our daily routine, and I’m not talking about the meal. If you want a record that is easy to digest, beautifully presented and produced, this is the track for you. No Gaviscon or heartburn tablets are required.

LIME, I love you, I adore Surf N Turf, and I really need to see you perform live ASAP! For fuck’s sake, I’ve just been handed a list of their upcoming shows. They’re not playing in Liverpool anytime soon. You disappoint me, LIME. Jokes, I can’t hate you. You’re boss, lads!
