Review: J Solomon – Beach Day 04

Posted byDaniel FaganJuly 22, 2020New Music, ReviewsJ Solomon

I haven’t been to a beach this year, but next week, that’s going to change. I’m not even leaving the UK. I’m travelling to New Quay in Wales for a week away. I expect there’ll be long walks, pubs, and fish and chips. The weather forecast is terrible, but I don’t care, I’m making it my mission to go to the seafront whether it’s sunny or not, and I’ve found the perfect soundtrack to accompany it.

Having surpassed one million streams on his single, Hazel Eyes, J Solomon is back with the summer anthem, Beach Day 04. A perfect blending of folk and indie, the New York City musician is going from strength to strength with each song that he puts out, and this latest track is a culmination of lovely sounds that will leave you longing for the beach. Reflective and uplifting, this is a song that would be well suited for train and plane playlists, but equally, I would love to see it live and have a boogie to it.

So, I’ve found my perfect holiday accompaniment. I’ll be taking a week off from IMN soon, but you might just see me on the news under the headline: “Strange Man Refuses To Leave Beach Despite Torrential Rain”.
