Steeped in the best musical elements of the 80s, Bushido by Eisbear was an absolute pleasure to listen to. In fact, I’ve heard it a few times. Each occasion I’ve noticed something new and more incredible about this strong and memorable EP.
Just a warning before you press play, you will experience a full spectrum of emotions throughout the six-track masterclass, and this effect is no easy task for a band to produce. From uptempo powerhouses like Or Never, straight into emotive ballads such as Laura, I didn’t know what to do with myself. The French new wave music-makers really did a number on me. One minute I was dancing around my room, the next, I was clutching my childhood teddy Mr Snuffles and saying “why did she leave me?”. I received no reply.
Combining the best moments of The The, Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, New Order, and modern bands like Everything Everything, this is an act that could probably do without the comparison to others, and yet I struggle to find a way to describe their unique sound. If they stay on their current course, they’ll go from strength to strength.
Bushido is a fantastic EP. What the hell are you waiting for? Go and check it out!
