Review: All Things Blue – Dicking Around

Posted byDaniel FaganJuly 3, 2020New Music, ReviewsAll Things Blue

I’m a sucker for dream punk. I didn’t know it was a thing until earlier today, but upon hearing All Things Blue’s new single, Dicking Around, I have to say I’m sold. I’m officially a fan, and there’s nothing you can do about it.

Dicking Around is a sonic journey that takes you through the collective mind of All Things Blue. Combining sounds from each genre, they have managed to create a musical persona that would fit alongside contemporaries such as Tame Impala and Unknown Mortal Orchestra, while remaining distinctly unique. From the moment I pressed play on this psyche drenched track, I was lost in their world. The bass is especially pleasing on the ears, taking you back to a time before music got so self-obsessed.

Having coined their name from a touching statement by the late singer India Coombs’ mother, the act recognizes the fragility of human nature concerning the endearing spirit we possess, and this comes across in their music. Towards the end of the track, things take a turn into a slightly more demented realm. The song becomes more chaotic as it reaches its crescendo, leaving the listener with the sense that they’ve been taken on an adventure. Dicking Around comes from the band’s upcoming debut album, Get Bit, and if it’s anything to go by, we’re in for even more greatness.
