Abi Rose Kelly is quickly becoming one of our favourite emerging artists in the Independent Music News office. Her debut single, James’ Corsa, showed a fantastic songwriting ability and made waves across the UK. The follow-up, titled Polaroids & Violence, has just dropped, and it’s becoming clear that she isn’t about to slow down any time soon.
From the moment the vocals kick in, the track grabs you, and it doesn’t let go as the lyrics are delivered with a power and confidence that resonates deeply throughout. It’s a hugely dynamic piece of music, combining light and heavy moments with masterful precision. The guitar parts weave in and out of the different sections with ease, and I found the whole thing hugely impressive. Not only is the talent evident for anyone who listens to Polaroids & Violence, but back when we met Abi during one of our live sessions, she was full of funny anecdotes and had a fabulous presence and charisma. So in short, she writes boss songs and is hilarious. Is there anything she can’t do? Maybe balance plates on her head. (Note to self: musicians balancing dishes on their heads, the new carpool karaoke?).
Polaroids & Violence is a catchy and extremely well-written tune that is sure to grow Abi Rose Kelly’s fanbase even more, and with two brilliant singles out, we can’t wait to see what comes next. Check it out!
