Blackburn quartet Waltz Away have created a melancholic and beautiful song called Angel In The Red Room, and we really think you should hear it.
With striking guitar melodies and heart-breaking lyrics throughout, this is a track that deserves to be listened to again and again. A cacophony of moving, effective instrumentation builds a wave of sound that washes over you and leaves you floating long after the final chords ring out. Singer and rhythm guitarist Ben Kirton delivers his vocals with an honesty that reflects influences like Elliot Smith and Ryan Adams, and you can tell that this is an authentic piece of art within the first minute. In a world of manufactured music, this can be a rarity, and we should take note of Waltz Away as they’re sure to go on to do great things.
Another Way is a slightly more upbeat sounding song that would sit comfortably within any classic Britpop acts back catalogue. While the lyrics remain honest and at times sad, this is an instantly catchy tune that you can’t help but dance along to. You might even get up out of your chair and do a little jig. Go on! No one’s watching.
Make your isolation a little brighter and press play.
