Premiere: Tom John Hall – Who’s Watching You

I would say good morning to you, with a spring in my step and no pants on, but truth be told it’s 11.20 am, and I’m already seething. I’ve lost a substantial amount of money on a virtual horse race (I was tipped WineDine69 was a winner), I’ve knocked my last bowl of Coco Pops all over the floor, and Tom John Hall has given me a case of severe facial hair envy. First of all, the man has two first names. That’s just greedy. Secondly, he’s got a moustache that must have been drawn on by God himself. I’m growing a quarantine beard and looking like a local flasher, whereas Tom is releasing sweet, beautiful music in the form of Who’s Watching You AND he dares to flaunt that 10/10 fuzz. What’s your secret, Tom? Goat’s milk? I’m absolutely raging with jealousy.

We’ve crossed paths with Tom before; he contributed the fantastic tune, No Vacancies, to our compilation album, It’s A Wonderful Life, and spoke about mental health on the accompanying podcast. It’s a pleasure to see him releasing new stuff, with Who’s Watching You showcasing his ability to change your mood for the better instantaneously, and it gets your brain box working overtime with some very clever lyrics. It’s poked my mind about a bit, forcing some philosophical thoughts – a far cry from my usual thought routine of food or pornography. Cheers, Tom.

Who’s Watching You is from Tom’s newest record, My Big Album (Part 1), which is due out 31st July, five days before my birthday. I think he knows, what a gentleman! Anyway, wack on the single right now, before I give you an actual slap. And after you’re done with that, we have another treat in store for you!

Our very own Rebecca Aston interviewed Tom for Independent Music News. They chatted about the inspiration behind the single, how he’s using music to get through lockdown, what kind of artists influenced him, how he would describe his songs, and much more! It’s a fascinating listen. Give it a spin below!
