Tigers are all the rage right now. A few weeks ago, none of us had heard the name Joe Exotic or Carole Baskin, but now we’re all stuck indoors watching Tiger King and asking ourselves why anyone would want to spend their days living with huge, dangerous cats. I avoid my neighbour’s kitten Mr Snuffles, so why would I want to go near a man-eater?
Not all tiger related media is as confusing, though. Alternative pop quartet Sugarstone’s new single, Tiger, Reach Out!, is a plain and straightforward dancefloor filler. Masterfully constructed, the Manchester-based band has conquered the art of creating pop classics. This song is full of beautiful surprises throughout and will no doubt have you boogying in your living room late into the night.
Since forming in 2017, Sugarstone have grown in popularity and shared the stage with acts such as Calva Louise, Strange Bones, and Kid Kapichi. This rise comes as no surprise when you hear a track like Tiger, Reach Out!.
Reminiscent of the best parts of eighties synth-pop, this is a band with a lot of talent that knows who they are and what they want. With positive lyrics and an excellent beat, Tiger, Reach Out! is the sort of tune that makes you want to pick up weights and work out like you’re in a Rocky movie. We need positive music like this right now.
Tiger, Reach Out! has made my week a hell of a lot better. Check it out and let us know what you think.
