Since I started at Independent Music News back in January, I’ve had more exciting opportunities than I can count. One of the greatest things I was offered was a radio slot every Tuesday night, and thus the Daniel Fagan Indie Show was born. I get to play the best independent music from around the world every week, receiving submissions that never fail to impress. Now and then, I find bands that become regular fixtures on my programme, and one such group is SLYJYNX. I first heard them with their debut single, Same Signs, which was right up my street. Today, we’re lucky enough to be receiving the follow-up, With You, and I’m pleased to say it’s just as good as its predecessor.
With You starts with the same funky style as Same Signs, with a killer bassline and a drum beat that induces involuntary dancing within the listener. I found myself head-bopping along without realising it several times while writing this, and that’s always one of the telltale signs of a belter song. The band have a quiet confidence that is very distinct in their music. They don’t go overboard with sounds to attract attention, instead, taking a subtler approach to the pop songwriting format. In short, they don’t seem to be begging the audience to like them, because they don’t need to. The tune speaks for itself. The chorus is hugely catchy, and I’ve found myself singing it around the house all morning, each time reminding me of the expert craftsmanship that went into creating this piece of work. So what are you waiting for? You’ve got exclusive access to this fantastic new single, go and check it out!
