From the opening notes, The Great Mirage by Sin Amor creates an atmospheric world for the listener to inhabit. The term “vibes” is undoubtedly one of the more overused phrases of the past ten years. Still, it’s hard to find a more suitable word for this EP. It is full of dark, technological, yet dreamy “vibes”, brilliantly painting a glitchy reflection of the modern world.
Tackling subjects of dissociation in the ever-changing and increasingly virtual world, the songs on The Great Mirage are full of fantastic lyrics that are both thought-provoking and catchy. Each track is dotted with various hooks that stick to the brain like post-it notes, and there are clever bits of musical production at work throughout. During this period of lockdown, we’re spending much more time on social media, and this EP accurately summarises many of the feelings I’ve been experiencing recently through a combination of well-constructed lyrics and powerful musical moments.
The Bristol-based trio have a lot to offer, and we’re thrilled to be sharing this premiere with you. Check it out! It’ll make your day much better, trust us.
