Towering guitar parts meet war-like drums in the industrial soundscape that is SAAVIK’s eponymous debut EP. From the moment the opening track begins, you can tell that this is a lovingly crafted and well-produced piece of work. Here at Independent Music News, we’re very excited to be sharing this with you.
Growing up in the riverside city of Liverpool, I don’t know much about Miami. My impression of it comes from the many over-the-top TV portrayals I’ve witnessed over the years. If you’re like me, then SAAVIK will come as something of a surprise to you, as they don’t fit the stereotype in the slightest. Their music sounds like it lives in a universe where Bermuda shorts don’t exist.
For a debut EP, this is mind-blowing. It’s full of rich tones and profound concepts, giving your ears so much to digest that they won’t go hungry for days. Drenched in fantastical ideas and thematically similar to legends of old, this four-part EP tells a story, but it also sounds terrific. At times, you’ll want to headbang around your room, others, sit and contemplate your existence while staring out of the window.
So without further ado, go and check it out!
