There are times when music gives us just what we need in life. Some days, a song may provide you with space to solemnly reflect upon recent life experiences and get a sense of clarity that you otherwise wouldn’t. Other occasions though, you want to do away with all the bullshit and listen to some pure, attitude-filled rock ‘n’ roll. If that’s your vibe today, then you’re in for a treat, because here at Independent Music News, we’ve been given the privilege to premiere Diane, the brand new single by Paris Street Rebels. Strap yourself in, because this is going to be a bumpy ride.
Kicking off with vitriolic vocals that could have come straight off Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols, this track wastes no time in getting to the good stuff. Energetic throughout, this powerful three-piece provides the listener with a genre that I can only describe as gut-punch garage. Often reminiscent of the best parts of The Hives back catalogue while remaining distinctly unique and original, Diane is a perfect example of why rock ‘n’ roll isn’t – and will never be – dead.
Paris Street Rebels have already been praised by the likes of Radio X’s John Kennedy, and it’s easy to see why. Popular gig promoters This Feeling have also caught onto the hype, and are planning various shows with them in 2021. People often say you can never be sure what you’ll be doing in a year’s time, but I’m pretty confident I’ll be getting myself down to one of those gigs and singing along to Diane.
