Back in March, just before things got quite so crazy, Mae Krell delivered the fantastic single, Garden. We’re big fans, and we were thrilled to learn that Mae was releasing a new, stripped-back version of the song. The original track is a beautiful piece of work, and it comes as no surprise that the live performance is just as excellent.
The bare-bones vibe of Garden gives it a very earnest quality. With the repeated melodic phrase, “grow your garden, she said”, the listener can feel both inspired and vulnerable. I’ve personally been having a tougher day than usual today, and this song really made me feel something, which is a rare quality in most music. It can be hard to let go of things, and the lyrics show a deep understanding of this part of human nature.
If you’re already a fan of Garden, you will love this. If you’ve not heard it yet, then what the hell are you doing? Go and listen to it. Then come back and play the live version. Then do it again and again because they’re such great tunes.
