The premiere today is a song called High Off Your Love by Heaton, a five-piece rock act fronted by Jake Heaton, and I immediately have two thoughts. Firstly, the band have a fantastic business opportunity right in their lap, and they’re probably unaware of it; hand warmers. Hear me out; they could name them HeatOns, and do an advert saying “when you feel the freeze, get your HeatOn”, then wink at the camera. It’s the frontman’s last name, it works. Call me gents; we’ll split the profits fifty-fifty.
My second thought is Heaton are promoting getting natural highs rather than extended drug use, which I like. They’re good people, and I’m already sold on High Off Your Love before I hit play. Eventually, I do, and my ears are treated to a gritty guitar riff with perfect accompanying instrumentation and a voice that must have been bestowed upon Jake by Zeus himself. I don’t know; I’m trying to compliment the bloke. The lyrics paint a clear picture; with the subject matter being about falling for your friend and the inevitable complications that follow. I can relate; back when I was single, I was constantly falling in love with my buddies. The method I found the most effective was to confess my feelings drunkenly then deal with the horrible fallout later. It’s a good thing I don’t want to breed.
Back to High Off Your Love and we are fast coming up to the conclusion of the song. This part is my personal favourite; the blistering guitar solo that gets me rock hard. Sorry, typo; it rocks hard. Autocorrect and such. Ahem. The guitar barrels into the last chorus, capping off this tune perfectly.
It’s easy to predict what I’ll say now, but goddamn it, I’ll announce it anyway. I’m looking forward to more stuff from these boys, both in song and hand warmer form. High Off Your Love by Heaton is out tomorrow, but you can listen to it now on Independent Music News. Go on, click the play button.
I’m sorry but what exactly is special about this song? It’s nothing but a cliche copy of every other ‘boy band’ out there with a guitar trying to make it with the same boring idea and song over and over and over again. A big no from me!!!
Shit
love the guitar solo what a great tune
Nice one catchy defo
Bit boring could be better not terrible
Good. I’d buy it. We need a bit of rock these days.
Bit overdone sorry
Decent lyrics , sound like they’re being sung by someone with the personality of a dustbin though?
Great track!!
