Some songs take a while to show merit, and this can dissuade people who don’t have the time to delve deeper. Don’t get me wrong, many of the best tracks in the world aren’t immediately captivating, but isn’t it a brilliant feeling when a tune wastes no time in getting the blood pumping? Step Out is one of those songs.
Crossfire Eagles’ latest release is anthemic, catchy, memorable and instantly enjoyable. I was bopping my head before the drums had even kicked in. The best gig I’ve ever been to was probably Foo Fighters at Milton Keynes in 2011, at the tender age of sixteen, and although I don’t really listen to the band any more, I still remember that feeling like it was yesterday. Crossfire Eagles brought me back to that day, with their festival-worthy music reminding me why I love going to gigs so much. It’ll be a while before we can experience those highs again, but songs like Step Out bring us just a little closer.
If you’re in the mood for a foot-stomping banger, check it out! And if you aren’t, listen to it anyway. It’s a song about embracing something that might scare you, and I think we could all learn from that.
