I haven’t heard much electronic music in ages. It just doesn’t seem to be the thing right now. So Nozomi, the latest single from Copenhagen-based electro-industrial duo CHAIRNOGOODFORBACK, actually came as a breath of fresh air. It starts with a definite tone of Blue Monday and a sampled vocal line organically weaving in dance beats. Analogue synths add depth to the vibe, and the track progresses until we are amid a full-on rave.
CHAIRNOGOODFORBACK comprises of Frederik Hauch and Rasmus Christian Pedersen. Their background is in jazz and classical music respectively, and they have combined to produce this delicious electronic track influenced by the raving dance floors of Copenhagen. Musically, the song incorporates the entrancing power of repetition with the back and forth of adrenaline inspired grooves.
There is an air of experimentation here but don’t get me wrong, with a robotic edge and a funky backdrop, this is music which would be right at home on any dance floor, not just Copenhagen.
