Premiere: Before Me – Can’t Sleep

I adore Don Broco, The 1975, and Bring Me The Horizon. So much so, I have a room dedicated to their merchandise; all four walls covered with posters, cupboards stuffed to the brim with t-shirts and hoodies, and an excessive amount of cups and coasters. It’s become a bit of an issue. To make matters worse, Leeds-based Before Me are set to release their new single, Can’t Sleep, on the 15th May, and it’s precisely the type of music my wallet detests.

Scrolling through their social media pages, the band don’t appear to stock merch. They do, however, make banging tunes. Debut single, Even So, is a palate cleanser of hard-hitting vocals, energetic guitar riffs, and has a bold and bolshy undertone. Tasty, but I’m craving for my main meal. Oh, here it is now, right on time.

Can’t Sleep is a tear-jerker. Packed to the brim with highly relatable lyrics about the highs and lows of a relationship, Before Me throw everything on the table, which is unfortunate because they’ve ruined my food. Jokes aside, this song is a masterpiece; one that’ll chew you up and spit you out. Yes, you’ll probably go through about six toilet rolls and eat an excessive amount of ice cream while listening to this track, but it’ll be worth it in the end. No longer will you think about Sandra or Bill, they’re gone, an unfortunate and challenging part of your life. Welcome Can’t Sleep into your world and move on.
