I’m no fun; it’s true. If I receive a WhatsApp invitation to a party, I reject it. My friend offers up his time to play football; I tell him to kick the ball against a wall like a child. Mother calls and wants to go to a top restaurant; I shout down the phone and tell her to piss off. I jest, but as you can see, I’m a bit of a dickhead. Thankfully, Bannered Mare’s single, I’m No Fun (Taken off Fear Of Missing Out), is a bit of a moron too. It is a pleasurable listen; it’s just playing up to the crowd.
According to the press release I obtained from the band, Bannered Mare is the brainchild of Joseph Padfield. If you don’t know who he is, you’re an idiot. Please get off the Independent Music News website. Be gone. No, don’t leave actually. We need advertising revenue to keep going. Where was I? Oh yes! Padfield has played in various acts (Race The Flux and Oscar Mild to name but a few) around Ireland for the last seventeen years. He’s as experienced as a MILF-type pornstar, can sing a mean hook, and he wrote, recorded and mixed I’m No Fun. Don’t be hard on yourself, Joseph; you’re a bloody talented fellow. I wish I was creative. Instead, I create album artwork on paint for no reason at all. I enjoy my hobby, fuck off!
Let’s get serious for a second. I’m No Fun is a barrage of exciting sounds. One minute you’ll be dodging Padfield’s sensual vocals, the next, the cocaine-coated guitar riffs and vodka-soaked bass and drum assaults will viciously strike your brain. What an experience.
Now it’s your turn to enjoy the ride. Listen to and watch the video premiere for I’m No Fun and get your head kicked in. No, it’s actually a joyful tune with many twists and turns. Just dig the song and stay indoors. If you don’t, I’ll send Bannered Mare round to your house. Kiss.
