Sometimes in life, you can feel helpless. There are times when no matter what you do, you can’t change the outcome of a tragic event. Few pieces of art can touch upon this successfully, but Hold My Hand by Arbirk does just that.
Hold My Hand is a beautifully sad and evocative song. Its melodies draw emotions out from deep within your soul and invite you to experience a level of reflection that the world often doesn’t give us time for. Songwriter Rasmus Arbirk wrote this piece as a response to his time working as a volunteer in a hospital café and seeing loved ones pass away. Death is the only inevitable truth of life, and yet the human experience with this subject is rarely discussed in the western world, at least not in an open and honest way. Hold My Hand attempts to give some clarity to those who’ve had to sit by as someone they care about has passed away, and it touches upon the things we find ourselves doing in those times.
Arbirk haven’t released anything since their debut album, Disguises, was released back in 2017, and it seems as though their time away has seen them evolve into an even more accomplished band. Hold My Hand might not be the sort of song you want to dance to, but it’s uplifting in its own unique way, and it deserves to be heard.
