Premiere: Angie & Harrison First – Silver Sadness

Back in 2015, the joint forces of Franz Ferdinand and Sparks came together and released a track called Collaborations Don’t Work. The song was a powerful and satirical piece of work that made the opposite point to its title. I was reminded of this tune while listening to the new single by Angie & Harrison First. Once again, we have proof that collaborations do work, and when they do, they’re fantastic.

After the success of their first EP, Each Other, the pair got straight to work on a full-length album. After hearing their latest single, Silver Sadness, it’s safe to say we’re in for something great. It’s an instantly alluring song, grabbing you by the scruff of the neck and not letting go until the three minute and twenty-one-second duration is up.

Upon first listen, Silver Sadness inspired me to turn my bedroom into a nightclub. It deserves to be heard resonating through speakers. The incredibly impressive production is wonderful to behold, and the track constantly grows and builds upon itself in joyous ways. The synth and soaring vocals perform an intricate dance within the ears of the listener, creating an undeniably enjoyable soundscape that needs repeated listens in order to be fully consumed and appreciated.

Angie & Harrison First release their debut album, Not Pushing Daisies, on 5th June. I can’t wait that long, so for the time being, I’ll have Silver Sadness on repeat to keep me satisfied.
