There is a band called Admiral Fox? Right, I’m already locked in, interest at an all-time high. I like the idea of a fox in the military, screaming orders. Have you ever heard the noise it makes? I know there was a humorous song about it, but the reality is pretty terrifying. Anyway, the name of the track (and its accompanying video) we are premiering today is called Salamander, an overly satisfying word to say out loud (preferably in the nude for maximum satisfaction).
The video for Salamander opens chaotically, rolling about in what appears to be a messy room. Bloody tidy up, Admiral Fox! We have guests. But hold on! Right away, we cut to some epic drawings then straight to makeshift faceless dolls playing on tiny homemade copies of the band’s instruments. This is an art attack! In all seriousness, this has clearly had a LOT of effort put into it, and it’s beyond impressive. The film is haywire, seemingly taking the vision Admiral Fox had after a fourteen-hour drunken binge and translating it straight into video form. I love it.
The song itself warrants being talked about too. It’s immediately catchy and appealing, commanding your full attention for the span of Salamander. The guitar riff alone will stick to the mind and refuse to leave your thoughts, forcing you to hum along to it long after you’re done listening.
This kind of video is wonderfully unique. The effort in making it alone must have been a pain in the arse, and the recognition for such devotion should be reflective of that. Go and watch it now, you won’t regret it. Bravo, Admiral Fox.
