The musical landscape has changed so much over the past twenty years that it’s barely recognisable when compared to its former state. Just as things were starting to even themselves out, COVID-19 came along and threw everything into disarray once more. This has been good and bad. It’s highlighted what is actually important in the scene, and what we need to address. Musicians are starting to see their value again, and realising that the art itself is the most important thing of all. One label that’s never lost sight of all this is Alcopop! Records.
As an artist myself, I was excited to sit down and chat with Jack Clothier, one of the bosses over at the label. It was a fascinating talk in which I learned a lot about the industry, and his passion for the acts he works with practically shined through the screen. It’s a confusing world out there, but it’s reassuring to know that there are people who still care about bringing joy through music. At the end of the day, that’s why we run Independent Music News, and as long as we all remember this and support each other, things will be okay.
